50 YEARS OF THE WHO

9 July 1966. The Who played a gig at the Westminster Technical College in Vincent Square, London W1 in a show that was filmed by Canadian TV for a special called British Pop Groups for their Take 30 programme. It was broadcast on 6 October 1966. As well as The Who playing and being interviewed, the special included interviews with fashion designer Ossie Clark and Paul Jones of Manfred Mann. Here’s the clip which includes ‚Substitute‘, ‚Baby Don’t You Do It‘, ‚See See Rider‘ and ‚My Generation‘. The sound quality is extremely poor to say the least but the clip gives you an insight as to what The Who in a small venue in the mid-60s were all about and, contrary to the misconception that they mainly had an all-male following, it shows the exact opposite with hordes of adoring girl fans in the audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9U9EEbasQ4
